Lechwe school was founded in 1977 in a local church hall. It started as a Primary School with 40 learners and 4 staff members.
The school follows the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and Cambridge Primary Syllabus (CPS) in the primary school and the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) and Cambridge International Examinations syllabus for the secondary section both of which take our locality into account.
“Possunt Quia Posse Videntur” is the motto of our school. Literally translated into English it means “they succeed because we recognise their potential”. We at Lechwe do just that in providing a complete holistic education.

Lechwe school boasts of very good infrastructure, and has embarked on an upgrading programme all-round.
We are proud of our school environment with its adequate facilities, superb resources and happy, purposeful atmosphere. Outside, our surrounding area enables children to take part in a wide range of sports and play with friends. The Primary School also adopted a comprehensive curriculum (IPC) for 3 – 12 year olds, made up of over 130 exciting, engaging and globally relevant thematic units of work, which are designed around a clear process of learning and with specific learning goals for subject, personal and international learning.
We welcome all children, no matter what their individual needs. We endeavor to include them with additional support in all areas of the curriculum. We aim for every child to make progress whatever their starting point or background.

In 1992 it was expanded to incorporate a Secondary School section. Various buildings were added through the years and in 1996 the first A-level classes were introduced and in that same year boarding facilities were established.
